FAQ's
What makes Awana different from other children's programs?
Awana is focused on bringing the gospel message to each child.
Awana trains children from preschool up to high school to know,
love, and serve Christ. It is an exciting program that focuses
on Bible memorization and rewards each child with "jewels" for
their hard work. The unique Awana games played around the game
circle adds to the excitement!
Do I have to be a member of CBC to bring my child to Awana?
No, we are excited to have your children attend even if you are
members of another church or if you do not attend a church.
Can I drop my child off for Awana and pick him up after?
Yes. We do have an adult Bible study that you are welcome to
attend, but if you are unable to stay, we do allow children to
be dropped off and picked up after the program ends at 8:00 p.m.
Only children participating in the Awana program (no one under
the age of 3) can be dropped off. Please make sure that all
important paperwork from the Awana club secretary is filled out
and signed before dropping your child off to be picked up later.
Does Awana cost anything?
We ask that each clubber bring 50 cents a week to help cover the
cost of our Awana program. This is referred to as their dues
and they receive points toward rewards when they arrive with
their dues.
What programs are available at CBC?
Cubbies: three years old up to prior to kindergarten
 Sparks: kindergarten through second grade
Truth & Training: third through sixth grade
Trek: middle school (seventh and eighth grades)
(A high school youth
group also meets on Wednesday evenings; however, it does not use
the Awana program at this time. Please call the church office
for more information.)
What happens in an Awana meeting?
Awana club meetings are a time of fun, fellowship, and learning
God's Word. The Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T club time is divided
into three parts - Game Time, Handbook Time and Council Time.
Game Time is when the kids get into some friendly competition on
the game circle playing games that are exclusive to Awana. The
kids have a blast! Council Time is a time for the clubbers to
come together for praise and worship, Bible teaching, awards,
announcements and a presentation of the gospel. Handbook Time is
when each child has the opportunity to recite their memory work
for the week and begin studying a new section. This is a time of
one-on-one mentoring with each child and establishing
friendships as the children help each other memorize God's Word.
Who leads the Awana program?
All of the leaders of the Awana program are members or regular
attendees of Community Bible Church. We are in the process of
completing voluntary background checks on all individuals who
work closely with the children. The Commander for our program
is Bill Spratt, and his Assistant Commander is Diana Uhlich. If
you have any questions or concerns regarding the Awana program,
please call the church office. Someone will direct your call to
these individuals.
Can I help out in the Awana program?
Yes! We are always eager for volunteers to help in the Awana
program. Certain requirements are necessary for different
positions, but we can certainly find a spot for you to help!
What is the Awana statement of faith?
Awana is a worldwide youth and children's ministry serving more
than 90 denominations. To accomplish this, the organization uses
a statement of faith to define who they are and what they
believe and to guide them in the development of materials.
